JOHN TRUPP

John Trupp wears a lot of hats, and not just on stage. He is a musician, songwriter, producer, graphic artist, web designer, videographer, impresario, and an all around family man. John is a native of Washington, DC and has been very active in its music scene. Early on, he joined New Potato Caboose, a nationally touring group that got signed to Rykodisc Records and did extensive touring, playing the finest 600 to 1000 seat halls of the east coast. He was a prominent songwriter on their release that sold tens of thousands of CDs (and albums) and performed over 200 shows per year up and down the coast. NPC still performs today, though a bit less frequently.

John is a new member of the Recording Academy (The Grammys), is a board member of the Songwriters Association of Washington (SAW), and does community service through affiliations with Rotary International (where he recently won their Paul Harris award) and as a board member with Time to Rally USA. He also does a significant amount of studio work as a musician and producer, and hosts and promotes concerts including Derwoodstock (in its 13th year) and A Derwood Christmas (in its 8th year). He hosts the area’s longest running Songwriter Showcase each month and promotes and develops new talent in the region.
